I never limit challenges, I challenge my limits!
Ssu Chen
I’m a multidisciplinary designer & happiness enthusiast!
I work on a wide range of design projects with a diverse skill set, ranging from graphic design and illustration, through to packaging and web design, oh! I do branding, too. (Yes, I do a lot of different things!) I’m passionate about creating awesome stuff that can truly bring out the spirit of a brand.
I love to talk and laugh, and I love everything that makes me happy – that’s why I’ve chosen to become a designer, so I can meet different people and complete different projects to make both myself and my clients happy! The world will definitely become a better place if everyone is happy, and that’s what I’m doing!
Multilingual & Cross-Cultural Experiences!
Another fun fact about me is that I speak both Mandarin (native) & English fluently! (I also speak fluent Taiwanese, a local language spoken at my home country.) I was born & raised in Taiwan; my parents sent me to Australia to study abroad when I was 15.
I was in Brisbane for high school and went to Melbourne for uni. I’ve always loved to travel and to explore different cultures, so I went to Scotland for exchange during my third year, and during my exchange I also went to Barcelona for excursion.
I’ve been to many places here and there as a backpacker over the years to broaden my horizon and visions. Meeting new people and having new adventures always inspire me to become a more flexible designer with a bigger heart appreciating everything I come across with.

SSUDIO
SSUDIO is my personal design studio established in early 2017 based in Taipei, Taiwan. Something special about SSUDIO is that although this is a one-person studio, I have a bunch of awesome freelance partners who back me up whenever I need them! We’re all good at our own fields, and we mostly work with clients on an individual basis, but we collaborate efficiently & effectively whenever we need each other’s unique power.
Full-Time Freelancer!
Almost 8 years of living overseas has made me a strong and independent person. Being away from home for so many years, I eventually decided to return to my family in Taipei, and started my career as a designer.
In 2016 I was invited to be the design director at Unicorn Skincare, a Taiwan-based startup; together with the team, we launched 5 products and many successful projects within a year. We entered AppWorks, the largest startup accelerator in Asia; we were later selected to join the famous 500 startups in Silicon Valley. I flew to San Francisco with the team to participate in the accelerator program and met many inspiring entrepreneurs from all over the world.
After a great year full of valuable experience, I decided to leave the team and started my own design studio to get my hands on more possibilities. I’ve been working remotely for clients both onshore & offshore ever since. Constantly juggling multiple projects while unfailingly meeting all deadlines and budget requirements has become my daily routine. Being a freelancer is definitely challenging and busy but satisfying at the same time, and I’m still super proud of my 100% completion rate!
Adventures!
Exploring new possibilities makes me happy, so I’ve started a few side projects to make my life busy & fun!
Ssuglish: English-Teaching YouTube Channel
I've started a YouTube channel in early 2020 to teach English and share my study-abroad-stories, hoping to provide Mandarin-speakers more materials when self-learning English at home.
Ssuglish: English Vocabularies Instagram Account
Along with the YouTube channel, I've also started an Instagram account uploading vocabularies every day to help people memorising English vocabularies and idioms.
Medium Blog: Sharing My Thoughts As A Designer
I've been writing articles (in Mandarin) on Medium every now and then to share my thoughts and experience as a freelance designer with others.
2morrow: Co-founded Design Studio
The studio is co-founded in 2020 with a friend who specialises in motion graphic, animation and video-editing.
To Wrap Things Up…
I’m a responsible person with a sense of humour and spontaneity, I never limit my challenges because I love to challenge my limits! I do what I love, and I love what I do. (and the best part is that I’m really good at what I do, too!)
I take every challenge as opportunity, and cherish every client’s trust & confidence in me. My passion and patience about my job means that I truly care about each and every one of my clients, and I take responsibility of the cases and requests given to me. Always working with pride and expertise to cater all my clients’ needs & ensure them the best quality.
I’m open to any possibilities in life!
Available for freelance project, short/long term contract, part-time position and even full-time position. If you have cool ideas wishing to collaborate, I’m all ears, too!
